Ms. Duran graduated from Montclair State University in 1978, summa cum laude, receiving a B.A. as a dual major of History and English. She worked for 3 years at Wausau Insurance Companies, first as a multi-line Claims Investigator, then as a Claims Examiner and finally as a Claims Supervisor. In 1981, Ms. Duran left Wausau and enrolled at Syracuse University, College of Law, where she received her J.D. in 1984, Magna Cum Laude. She was admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars in 1984. Ms. Duran began her career working as an associate in a civil litigation defense firm in 1984, defending hospitals, physicians, aviation claims, all general liability and insurance coverage work. In 1989 she became a partner and remained there until founding Duran & Pandos, P.C. with Ms. Pandos in 1996. Ms. Duran became certified as a Civil Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court in 1991 and was recertified in 2000 and 2006. In 2008, Ms. Duran was became a member of the North Jersey Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates as an Advocate and currently serves as the Treasurer of the Organization. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, Trial Attorneys of America, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for three years, and New Jersey Defense Association. She has also served as a Barrister in the Brennan Inns of Court training new attorneys. Ms. Duran has tried hundreds of cases to a successful conclusion, primarily in the representation of hospitals, nurses, and physicians in all medical specialties. She has successfully tried general liability and other professional malpractice cases including administrative liability cases for Presidents and Department Chairs. In addition to mediating and arbitrating cases, she has argued cases before the New Jersey Appellate Division and The United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Ms. Duran lectures extensively to professional groups and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
